The adventure begins a new

Destination today – New York

Max and I are on the train heading to New York. We are in a sleeper car. Nice way to travel. Arrived at our hotel in New York. Can see Empire State building.

Update: 05 JAN 2017 – We have been at sea for two full days. The ship is lovely. Breakfast is typical, similar to our trip on the Norwegian Jade. Lunch has been awesome, all you can eat salmon nagihri and sashimi. Dinners are an elegant affair with everyone dressed. Photos can’t be uploaded or I’ll blow through my data connection time due to the slow speed.

Update: 08 JAN 2017 – Happy Birthday Robin. A day late on the blog though. Today is the QM2’s birthday. The ship is 13 years old. We are less than 1000 miles from England I believe. We went to a charity auction where they had folks bidding on a large printed nautical chart that shows our actual voyage path. It sold for $5000.00. Wow! The money is being donated to the Prince’s Trust. Saw an amazing sunset a day or two ago. Haven’t been able to see the stars due to clouds. This evening we dressed in our best suits and donned our masks for the masquerade ball. Stayed for some good big band music and people watching.

Update: 10 JAN 2017 – Arrived in Southampton and had to leave the ship. Bummer. Took a bus to St Pancras as our hotel was nearby. Wasn’t sure if the train strike was going to affect us. For lunch we got to have some Yo Sushi! Those who know, know what I’m talking about. Met up with Tina and Jack. Max was so happy. We went to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and I was happy to see the boys enjoying themselves especially when we got to the Marvel and Star Wars areas.

Update: 11 JAN 2017 – Safely arrived at our final destination. Travels today went without any issues. Leave it to kids to say the darnedest things. Max turns the TV on and switches to Cartoon Network. He looks at me and says, “Can we change the language to American?” All I could do was smile.

Now that we have made it, I have determined the traveling by ship is THE BEST way to travel if you have the time. Next is by train. Pressed for time? Take a plane.

Update: Final one. Got some pictures uploaded.

Mama – We Love you – 1937-2016 – RIP

Not much for words right now. Mom passed 0055, 05AUG2016.

A post Michael put onto Instagram:

“Last night my grandmother passed away. I am so happy and thankful that I was able to see her yesterday. It broke my heart hearing about what was happening to her from my dad but when I was there with her yesterday she seemed perfectly normal. I still remember when I was little that I would go to the store with her to be her helper since she loved to shop, a few times she would take me to toy’s R us and I would spend tons of time looking at the Lego then sometimes getting a small transformer. She also made the best Christmas layout ever under and around the tree. There would be a white bottom made from the cushion stuffing-stuff for snow. She would then have houses to put on it to make an entire village. It was always the coolest thing to see, even at my age I still can’t get over how cool it looked. She was married to my grandfather for 54 years. Rest in peace grandma, you’re in a better place now. Love you. 1937-2016”

Rest In Peace Skye – 2003-2016

Our beloved Skye has passed away this Saturday, July 09, 2016. She is missed greatly. We were all crying at the vet’s office. She was a part of this family. She was a protector of this family.

I remember her defending me when a neighbor dog attempted to attack me. I saw this blur of black and the other dog go flying sideways from the impact Skye gave.

She got to spend four years over in England and made the return journey to the States. She even made a trip to Wales.

We miss you Skye

Football / Soccer announcement

The results of the SOCA travel team tryouts were published June 1st. The bad news is Kaitlyn did not make the U16 Elite travel team. For those that don’t know there are three “skill” levels; Challenge, Premier, and Elite. Elite being the highest. The U16 denotes players no older than born in the year 2001, U15 year 2002, etc.

Kaitlyn was bummed that she didn’t make it onto the team she was hoping to get. I could hear the disappointment in her voice over the phone call.

I then told her she didn’t make the U16 team because she had made the U17 Premier team. She was like, “oh that’s good.” Remember, Premier is one step down from Elite. I told her again, “U17 as in Youth seventeen Premier team.” Stressing the U17 this time. I repeated it two more times. I could hear the realization hit her. She is a 14 year old that just made the 17 year old team! She was so excited, that she started crying being overcome with joy and relief.

Yet again an example of how much Michael, Kaitlyn, and Max have amazed me by their abilities and their drive to improve themselves.
